GIRLS' SPORTS Some VF girls enjoy building a somewhat shaky pyramid in gym class. In order to provide for the release of the youthful enthusiasm of VF girls, the girls' physi- cal education department offered a wide range of activities. In the bi-weekly required classes, the noises were an indication of the numerous activi- ties. The wild screaming during a cage ball game or the silent thud of a graceful body executing a tumbling skill were just two familiar sounds. In these classes, the development of individual skills was stressed. For the spirit of a team and more com- petition, girls were urged to participate in the intramural program. In this program, the girls developed skills in the sports of their choice while participating in the after-school games and activities. Girls who became expert in their skills were able to bring honor to them- selves, their teams, and their school. The Leaders ofiiciate an exciting game of cageball. A4 8
