Dave Haburchak, John Konecsni, Tom Rea, Jim Savarda, Coach Mindek. t DEFEATED I-IARRIERS WI THE LEL CROW Ample potential, a year's experience, expert coach- ing, and the will to win, all contributed to Valley Forge's first LEL championship in cross country. Living up to pre-season predictions, the undefeated Patriots com- piled a season's record of eight dual meet victories. As the season progressed, each additional victory brought the team closer to the title and a perfect record. Through- out the season the team traveled to many major meets at .Q . .Q ,.,. .,,,,..,. The LEL champs warm up before a meet. 34 which they made a reputable showing. The Bowling Green Invitational at Bowling Green University was one of the biggest in this area of the country. At the invita- tional the cross country team placed eighth in a field of fifty-one teams from three states and Canada. Finishing the season, junior Rick Steinfadt, undefeated in this year's meets, placed third in the individual state championship. Captain Rick Steinfadt leads the spirited team in a workout.

James Riha. NETTERS 1MPRovE IN SECOND SEAS S N The Valley Forge tennis team had a successful 1963 LEL spring season by placing third after a diffi- cult schedule of matches. In its second year of LEL competition, the 1963 team was coached by Mr. James Riha to a greatly improved 4- win and 3 loss record. In the big LEL Tournament in October, Valley Forge placed its first doubles team in the finals for Terry Spengler displays a forehand shot. the second straight year. This year's duo was Terry Spengler and Don Haberkost. In the spring of this year, the tennis team played a full schedule, including many independent matches to prepare them for the 1964 LEL season.
