After testing their new offense in scrimmages against Admiral King and St. Joseph, the Patriots were ready for their first game. Traveling to Willoughby South, the team played a fine first half but received a scare when Willoughby roared back to pull within four points of the Patriots. The game ended with the score 20-16. Spirits high, the team rolled over Berea with a score of 14-0 in their second game. Benedictine, the third gams, proved to be one of the Patriots' best played games of the season as the teams battled to a 12-12 tie. In contention for the LEL crown, the Patriots saw their hopes for an unde- feated season vanish as Lakewood played outstanding football to win 20- 12. The team then reached the emotional high point of the season in a 19-12 victory over the Redmen of Parma. Coming back, they defeated Brush 12-0. In the next game against Shaw, the Patriots played their poorest game of the season, losing 24-6. Against a strong Euclid team, the Patriots played good football in the mud to win, 6-0. The next week the Patriots beat Cleveland Heights 16-6. In the final game of the season, the Patriots beat a young Shaker Heights team 22-6 to finish the season tied for second in the LEL and ranked among the top ten teams in the city.
