SI-IEY ENNE GURGLES Topic: S. T. C. As We Rememben It. Somehow time is kind to memories: the things we should like to forget grow dim and vanish into forgetfulness, but the treasured things grow more precious as the soft light of memory is turned on them again and again. i What is your first memory of S. T. C.? Perhaps it is the distant view of the build- ing as you first saw it through the trees from which the leaves were already fallingg or it may be the lines of registration clay and your first introduction to sessions in chapel on that day which return to your mind. But one of the first impressions which many people will recall is the shock they received at the sight of so many girls in one institu- tion, girls of all sizes, types, and appearances, hut everywhere-girls. These things, we have found, are typical of S. T. C. and they will return to us whenever we think of our Alma Mater. There are some courses which stand out in our minds: who would ever imagine it possible to forget Mr. lVleyer's jokes? Or Mr. Higgin's tests in Agriculture? Or teaching in the Training School? Some courses have meant much to us and, combined with the instructor, have played important parts in shaping our lives-how can such things as these pass from us? Some of the things which have taken place aside from the regular school work will remain with us always: football, basketgall, and baseball games which we have taken part in or which we have watched and for which we have rooted: dramatics, society activities, school parties, picnics, dansants, and interviews at Park Avenue Cottage have all come to be part of our school life here. These things have a significance to us which we may not realize now but which we shall recall with increasing interest as time passes. Last of all, and in many ways the most important of all, are the friendships we have formed here. Very often life would have been dreary without the friendship of people who we did not know existed before we arrived in Valley City. To many of us the companionships have been of nearly as much value as the work we have done in school: and without them the school work would have been nearly impossible. Indeed, the friends we have made are a very important part of our school life. So now, as time speeds onward and we look back to the years we spent in S. T. C., let us remember only the things which are worth while. May the years that pass help us to recall our Alma Mater as the dearest of our friends. l Ut H A. me ...F -gf ., ., c. ,esac - .ei 'l r 'tif-T , - , ,Knee . .. s Lis-, -W elm., 1, gflf i I7l
