The night's chill was lost in Santa's Village and a holiday atmosphere set with colorful lights and scents of candy from Mrs. Claus' kitchen. Those present enjoyed the pre-Christmas spirit furthered by Larry Reynolds and his Echoes. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of the Ideal Cam- pus Couple, Sue Dillon and Joe Rapisarda, pre- viously selected through popular vote. Mardh of Dimes y Queen 1961 The selection of the Queen is traditionally determined by the amount of money a can- didate can earn over a two-week period. This year's race between Cathie Howard, representing the Sophomore Class, and Jackie Villamil, representing the Junior Class, pre- sented a close competition. The worthy candidate from the Junior Class became the honored queen, and she will hold her title throughout the year. 54 At the dance celebrating the end of a successful campaign, Queen Jackie receives her crown from Tom Recknagel and her trophy from Don Hughes.
