We can expect to have a top notch team next year with the more experienced runners from this year. WATER POLO For the first time in its history, Vallejo High School had a water polo team this fall. Operated on an informal basis for the first year, the team played California Maritime Academy, the Re- serves of Sacramento Jr. College and the Olympic Club of San Francisco. C BASKETBALL After a number of years of in- activity in this class, Vallejo High School revived C basketball. Vallejo wasn't sure of supporting a C team until the middle of the summer, therefore no one had heard of it. With potential C's going out for tennis, track and football, only ten men were on the squad. We didn't do too well this year, but we expect to have a fine team next year. Mr. Mara did a very fine job of coaching the boys this season. Two high point men of the year were Ben Arellano and Rich Hardman with Rick Bigornia and Jim Merrit close behind. The cheer- ing section had a 96.47 average in basketball for the N.B.L. The club sponsored a dance in the fall which was very successful. Through the offi- cers, the club acquired emblems, pom pons, hats, sweaters, and, most of all, school spirit. A car caravan was one of the outstanding activities this year. The caravan ended at the Mare Island Waterfront Park where a rally was held. There were many other rallies with entertainment and cheers. The rallies consisted mainly of the cheerleaders, Pom-Pon girls, and were directed by rally commissioner, Gail Web- ster, appointed by the Student Body president.
