Valier 0 Statistics Cascade 23 COACH PAULSON'S COMMENTS The 1978 football season will be remembered as the Valier 14 Fairfield 12 beginning of winning football at Valier High School. Valier 8 Simms 13 Many factors contribute to winning, such as; Valier 16 Big Sandy 14 dedication, desire, attitude, etc. Our players displayed Valier 14 Chester 9 their class on and off the field. To the graduating Valier 36 Harlem 8 seniors, who gave us that much needed leadership, we 4th-Conference say thank you. To the underclassmen, whose job it will be to lead us in 1979, we say good luck. All things considered, the future of football in Valier looks very bright. This reflection also reveals a great deal of desire, growth, and determination. Though the girls faced the hardships of having to practice in the multipurpose room and traveling the first ten games straight, they endured, they worked together, and they succeeded. All eleven girls did a fine job throughout the season, proving their desire and their dependability. The greatest reward for me as a coach, was watching the girls work together as a team, and watching them take with them to tournaments-PANTHER PRIDE. STATE TEAM Coach Triplett’s Comments It is my opinion that the 1978-1979 wrestling season was super. There were seven wrestlers out this season and we filled six weight classes. Considering that every time we wrestled a full squad of wrestlers we gave up 36 points each time and came out the way we did, I can't ask any more out of a team than that. Enthusiasm was fantastic among the entire team and it paid off sending 5 of 6 weight classes to State. Roger Hammer, Keith Widhalm, Doug Widhalm, Kim Wentworth, Kirby Swanson, Keith VandenBos, and Joe Broesder are to be congratulated on their performances. A special thanks to Jim Stephens and Lisa Widhalm for all the work they have done this past season. DIVISIONAL WINNERS: Roger Hammer, 4th in 98 weight class; Keith Widhalm, 1st in 105 weight class; Joe Broesder, 4th in 155 weight class; Kim Wentworth, 3rd in 119 weight class; Doug Widhalm, 4th in 112 weight class. Included in our victories were some very close ones and some impressive ones. Included in our defeats were some very close ones and some runaways. Overall the players learned a new style of play which will benefit them in the future.
