The Future Homemakers of America had a very active year in 1972-73. Under the direction of their president, Deanna Geiger, the girls were constantly busy with community service activities and fun projects. They began the year with a concession stand at home football games to pay for jackets for the Valier ambulance drivers. They also supplied clowns for the Homecoming Day Parade, served a Father-Daughter Banquet, held an Easter Egg hunt in the park, and served the cVc Ladies Night Banquet with the hlep of their chapter mothers, Mrs. Lola Geiger, and Mrs. Gertie Vanden Bos. The Valier FHA'ers also hosted the District I FHA Convention in November. Diane Van Gorden was the District Chairman and Kathy Kovatch was District Songleader. Marie Curry was elected new District Vice-Chairman. In March four of the most active girls in the chapter and Miss Shepherd attended the State Convention in Billings. The girls were Marie Curry, Jeanne Geiger, Ros Habets, and Bernie Moon. They were chosen on a point system with a point being awarded to them for each activity they helped with. FRENCH CLUB FRONT ROW: Diane Van Gorden, Dorothy Barron, John Speer. SECOND ROW: Miss Powell-Adviser, Randy Arnst, Dan Sullivan, Jeannie Nelson-Presiding Officer, Carmen Boucher. Under the guidance of Miss Powell, the French I class formed le Club de Francais de Valier High School to learn more about French culture. Before Christmas, they began work on a creche, or manger scene, for the school. Although it wasn't finished by Christmastime, it was completed in January and given to the school.
