Student Council Informs Students First Row: Nancy Hayne; Secretary- Treasurer, Tony Harwood; President, Bob Kovatch; Vice-President. Second Row: Deanna Geiger; Freshmen Class Representative, Jody Field; Junior Class Representative, Mark Hammer; Senior Class Representative-, Ron Widhalm; Freshmen Class Representative, and Mr. Sindelar; Sponsor. Not Pictured, Jayme Nelson; Sophomore Class Representative. The main governing body of the school does various jobs that help the student Body. Some of the projects done this year were: repainting the goal posts and side line markers on the football field, cutting Christmas trees to be used in the High School, providing candy machines for the Students, and presenting an Anti- Smoking program, which carried a very important message for all, to the Junior High and P. T. A. Besides the small jobs done there was much involvement with the other Student councils in our district. The Student governments of our district joined together to make our schools heard in the State Student Council Convention held in Billings. Tony Harwood, Mark Hammer, and Bob Kovatch, who ran for Vice- President of the State wide organization, went to the large convention as delegates. Bob lost a close election but he did represent Valier and the other schools in our District very well. Within the school the Council worked with the teachers and School Board by giving suggestions for a new dress code and new rules for dances and inform- ing students about various events and curfew. The most important job was working with the other organizations in the school to build school spirit and encourage more activities. CHOP! CHOP! With a chain saw? 19

SECOND ROW: Karen Rappold, Linda Reishus, Joan Yeager, Maria Slezak, Anita Geiger, Connie Pepion, Valerie Hale. THIRD ROW: Trudy Hall, Susan Struss, Rhonda Stokes, Rhonda Barron, Helen Stephen, Denise Gossard, Roberta Keeler, Carolyn Harwood. FOURTH ROW: Marie Adamson, Greg Harwood, Ted Holdren, Tony Harwood, Tom Christiaens, Joe Stark, Dennis Chatlain, Bob Kovatch, Judy Hale. The Valier High School Chorus practiced 3 times a week during the 1969- 70 school year. They performed at the Christmas concert, the Spring concert, Festival, and graduation. A highlight of the year and something which had never been done before, was a trip to Geraldine, Montana, where the choruses from eight different schools all sang under the direction of Mr. Trepp, of Northern Montana College.

Members must have lettered in Football, Basketball, Wrestling, or Track.
