Explores Personal Interests and Abilities in Relation to Teaching Mr lb- «.•£■ B V -l a .- jUHB ■ko B The main objectives of the Future Teachers of America is to learn about the opportunities, responsibilities, and democratic role of the teaching profession and to explore personal interests and abilities in relation to this field. Initiation and installation of new officers and members opened the year with Mr. Sindelar assisting with the installation ceremony. The FTA carried out National Education Week by putting up a bulletin board and window display and having a proclamation issued by the mayor. The high school also sponsored Parents ' Day during this week to encourage parent interest in the educational process at Valier High School by allowing them to participate in classes for a day. Two faculty members attended a meeting and related their experiences as student teachers and as first- year teachers. Later in the year, FTA members were allowed to teach a unit of their choice. A student exchange was carried out between Shelby and Valier in which members of each chapter attended classes in the other ' s school. Project 18 was sponsored by the FTA which gave all of the students of VHS the opportunity to voice their opinions on the lowering of the voting age to 18 or 19. Our Photographer Works for a Better Lights The business manager ' s staff is responsible for all the finances of the yearbook. They must sell adds, supervise the advance sales of the yearbook, collect the payments, write out receipts, and keep an accurate record of all busi ness transactions. ■■ ,-«s i Typist, and Assistant? September 26, 1969, the co- editors, business managers, and Mrs. VanGorden attended the Montana Interscholastic Editorial Association (MIEA) conference at the University of Montana in Missoula. There, they learned more about the fine points of putting out a yearbook. 11

The main activity of the Honor Society this year was the Talent Show. The purpose was to raise money to be sent to the Boulder River School at Boulder. One hundred dollars was raised and sent.
