A week laTer, as I prepared myself To leave, my eyes began To moisTen. Where had The week gone? Was IT Friday nighT already? I was leaving. All Norfhern Californian DelegaTes would leave Tomorrow, my roommaTe, Brian among Them. Our goodbye had been sad, as I deparfed from The besT friend I had ever known. When I boarded The bus, I heard sobs from guys who didn'T cry when Bambi's moTher died. As we lefT, The bus was silenT. I waved goodbye. We'd prom- ised To wriTe and never forgeT our friendship. I Tried To sleep, iT was IaTe. My mind was racing, recalling The week's acTiviTies. Assem- blies, sporfing evenTs, elecTions, parTies, faces and names raced Through my resTless mind. All my ThoughTs merged inTo one memory. The man from The American Legion had said, You'lI never forgeT. And I haven'T. Suzanne Pegas Girl's STaTe was one of The besT experiences I could have had. IT gave me a TasTe of The life in poIiTics I Think I wanT To live. So many Times we were ,Told ThaT we wouldn'T be able To puT our experiences inTo words. I for one am Trying my besT. The G-irI's STaTe experience did change some of The views I held. Maybe iT made me more Toleranf. IT made me realize ThaT I don'T wanT To be presidenT, buT I do wanT To change The world. I Walking inTo a group of people ThaT know noThing abouT you gives you The opporTuniTy To creaTe a new you. BuT I Think a IoT of us learned ThaT The old us was The besT one.
