GRADUATED MA Y UCCESSF UL SENIOR Thoughout the years, a number of interesting senior traditions have evolved. One tradition we no longer have is the Senior Class Play. The first one was put on by Valencia's first and only graduating senior in 1934, Roy Tilery. He put on the whole play by himself. The last one held was in 1966. Another tradition is the painting of the water tower which is on Chapman Avenue. The tradition was the Senior Class would paint their graduation year on the top of the tower. This tradition was discontinued, however, in 1969, when the police said that the next one to paint the tower would he charged with the crime. After the tower came the tradition of decorating the senior quad. At first, the Senior class would just decorate it with sim- ple things like toilet paper and streamers Then gradually the tradi- tion grew into the stealing of items to decorate the quad. .lust last year, some of Valencia's graduating seniors were arrested for perfor- Stan Holditch Class of ,40 Faylon Brunemeier Class of '43 Joe Huffine Class of ,43 Stanley Van De Putte Class of ,4-0 Ron Raya Class of '5 5 12 OPENING
