if.g1i,gi is ' uvlpllli 4' 1' , The Vikings accomplished their goal this year by becoming District Champs. After a grueling season, emotionally and physically, the Vikings emerged victorious, proving that never giving up pays off. To even get into the District tourn., which Vale was hosting, the Vikings had to beat a tough John Day team in a playoff match. lt was played in Unity, Oregon where, in the third and deciding game, the Viks came back from a 6 pt. deficit, 8-14, to win the heart-stopping game, 16-14! Two days later, the Vikings took the District title in front of an excited home town crowd. This put the Viks in their first state appearance and gave them a chance to play the eventual third place team, Rainier. The Vikings lost but gained some valuable expe- rience for a very promising sea- son next year. 'f:Named to the District tourna- ment team were L. Dirkson, J. DeLong, B. Bement, D.
