The District Meet was held at John Day, 20 and 21. Ed Anthony took first in the 220 dash with a time of 22.55, he also placed second in the 440 yard dash with a time of 50.3. The mile relay consisting of J. R. Smith, Dave Saunders, Richard Hume, and Ed Anthony ran a time of 3:29.6 to place first in the mile relay at John Day. May 30, 1977, Vale played Yamhill- Carlton Tigers for the quarter- finals of AA Baseball for the State of Oregon and won 9-6. Viks then traveled to Rainier and came out on top 2-1. In the finals, Vale played South Umpqua, winning 5-4 to become AA 1977 State Base- ball Champs! 65
