Elaine DeLong and her family worked very hard on them. There was a lot of straw and people were served out of kettles. Joan Elfering brought wagon wheels. Teri Smith brought horse tack. It was a real country set-up. 31

A multitude of girls crowded into the school before the bidding of boxes began. Tons of food, including chicken, ham. lasanga. potatoes, and corn poured into the cafetorium. Tables were elegantly set and decorated. Boxes made by the girls were judged by Mr. Arritola, Mr. Wilkins. Mr. l-lammerle, Mr. Edwards. Mrs. Gardner, Mr. Lewis, Mr. Johnson, and Miss Roff. Each athlete bid for a box and paid 38.00 for his share. The senior girls went together and a total of 54 were served by the senior girls. The seniors featured for dessert a birthday cake with 77 candles on top. Mary Ann Moss' birthday coin- cided with the date of the box social so she blew out the candles while the seniors sang Happy Birthday to her. Following the meal, the cafetorium was cleared and records played. Again this year as always, the box social was a success. The Lettermen's Club raised more than 3800.00 to be used toward the purchase of Athletic equipment and other needs. ve-- X THIS PAGE . , .
