MARCH BLAZER BASEBALL VSC IAZZ ENSEMBLE SPRING FEVER BEGINS The crack of ball against bat came again at VSC in March as the Blazer Baseball team took to the field to start their 1976 season. With the start of baseball comes the daily pilgrimage to Blazer Field where students pull their cars up to the outfield fence, lean back on the hood with beer can in hand and enjoy the game. The start of baseball season also signals to VSC students that the time has come to start laying out in the sun to get a good tan before Spring Quarter arrives. K

3? 1. I wh.. gh, As a Bicentennial treat for VSC students, the VSC Depart- ment of Speech and Drama staged Richard Sheridan's play The Rivals. This play was written by Sheridan in the 1770's and was an unqualified flop. However, it has been delighting audiences ever since that time and VSC audiences were no different. Excellent costuming and acting as well as outstand- ing direction made this one of VSC's most enjoyed theatrical events for some years. The play was presented on February 18-21. Kim Purser won her second major beauty title of the year on February 11 when she won the coveted crown of Miss VSC. This year's event was one of the most successful ever and featured a guest appearance by Miss America, 1976, Tawny Godin. As a result of her winning the Miss VSC crown, Kim will represent VSC at the Miss Georgia contest held in Cololmub during the summer. The Miss VSC Contest is spon- sored by Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. This year it has con- tinued to draw the appreciative applause of hundreds of students who have attended any one of the numerous mini-concerts given by the en- semble this year. Whether they are held in front of the cafeteria at lunchtime, in the rear of the Fine Arts Building at late afternoon, or in Whitehead Auditorium in the evening, VSC students can expect outstanding music from this talented group. 19
