Lil There is only one word for registration at VSC- frus- tration. Registration at VSC has always been a hassle. Usually it meant waiting in long lines in the hot gym. This year, however, registration was moved to the air- conditioned confines of the Education Center. Despite the increased creature comforts, the frustra- tion of registration is still there and will probably remain forever. The long lines, particularly for English, History, and P.E. courses, have been moved inside cramped rooms, sometimes extending out into the hallway. The hallways themselves have become danger- ous highways with a constant flow of high speed traffic as students scurry about madly trying to get to the En- glish room before their course closes out. With patchwork schedule in hand, students go to the fee payment area to deplete their checkbook and fill our the many colored cards which tell everything about you. And then, as if to record you for immortality your I.D. picture is made, showing a face of either frustration in getting a terrible schedule or pure joy in just getting out of registration alive. s' , 1 yi. 0 A yearly ritual at VSC is the Creek Rush, held during the first ten days of Fall Quarter. It is a high-pressure game in which an individual tries to favorably impress a fraternity or sorority. Likewise, the fraternities and sororities do their best to impress the most students. Rush consists of nightly informal parties, a weekend dance, formal gatherings called smokers, or ice-water teas. All during this time, the rushee is meeting new people and trying hard to remember their names. When a person gets a bid from a fraternity or sorority it is usually the most important moment of their young college life. The many new friends he or she will make as fraternity brothers or sorority sisters are friends they will keep for the remainder of their college career. Having survived rush, the new Greek system member is ready to go on to pledge training and the ultimate goal of Greek life-initiation. Most Greeks on the VSC campus were introduced to the Greek system through rush. Rush is an event that will remain in their memories as long as they stay at VSC.

THE YEAR HN REVIEW SEPTE BER FRESHMEN ADIUST REGISTRATION RUSH PARTIES On September 14, 1975, the quiet, peaceful VSC campus was invaded by hundreds of cars unloading thousands of students, parents, brothers, and sisters at the various dorms. lnvariably each person could be seen car- rying a box full of items necessary to transform a simple dorm room into a students' home- away-from-home for the next year. The impressions students get on their first day at school are impressions that will remain with them throughout their stay. The beauty of the campus, the carnival-like atmosphere of the dorm and the first taste of cafeteria food will linger in the minds of all students for some time to come. lt is always easy to tell who the freshman are - they are the ones with the most relatives and the most boxes. Blank, vacant looks are on their faces as they wander from building to building trying to figure out where they are, while at the same time telling their parents not to worry about them because they will do just fine. After a few pictures for the grandparents, it's time for the parents to leave. Many freshman feel a lump in their throat as their parents drive off and they realize that college life is something they will have to face on their own. They have arrived. They will never quite be the same again. I .

All of those in attendance came away with the same feeling- he's dyn-o-mite? The annual VSC Blazer Cross Country Invitational was held on October 18, 1975. This event was won by the host Blazers.
