qaculty WE HAVE good reason to love and respect our dean, for her graciousness and helpfulness pene- trates to every organization on the campus. Her influence is felt in all our activities, and her suggestions and encouragement are always in demand. If any one person is the incarnation of activ- ities at G. S. W. C. it is Miss Ivey. Without her unfailing originality and patience, and her. talent for making an art of whatever she does, we fear that our beautiful festivals and enthu- siastic athletic associations would lose an essen- tial part of their spirit. Nor is Miss McRee to be slighted as a mem- ber of the Physical Education department, be- cause her gift of friendliness and her ability to organize and handle large groups of recalcitrant freshmen have been invaluable in putting over many a program. Mr. Stokes in his hours of recreation is quite happy with a golf club in his hands and a pipe in his mouth. He takes time out from his scholarly pursuits to go on Natural History Club hikes and attend the social dances. The Chemistry department doesn't claim all of Dr. Phelan's time, for the Kappas need him for timekeeper at games, and his versatility even includes being a talented pianist. Miss Sawyer's personality would entitle her to a place of honor on the campus, even if she were not interested in our activities. Quite an actress in her own right, she has chosen to teach others the art, rather than practice it herself. The Pine Cone staff could hardly get along without Miss Gilmer's assistance, she's the guid- ing spirit of the Literary Societies, too, and the staunch encourager of all young poets and prose writers. When Dr. Gulliver misses a social dance, one knows he is out of town. His infectious laugh enlivens any gathering, however, he can be just as interesting in his more serious moments, for his talks in Vespers and Sunday School classes are always enjoyed. l i I K WN i' '-.'- a I ' '. f-I . . ., 0- - - X lf 1 'WJA' Y f - .ah ..-,.-ir f A , o
