10 Early Start Aids Yearbook Staff Lines formed on Saturday morning September 21. The 1985 Sandspur had finally arrived. Students gathered in groups in the cafeteria. They signed books for friends and paused for a mo- ment to relive last year's events in the pages of their yearbooks. Work on the 1986 edition of Sandspur began on August 23. when staff members gathered for a workshop and decision making session. By the opening of school, technical details such as cover design, type size, and end sheet color had already been submitted to the plant. Staff members were intro- duced to computers and a word processing program set up spe- cifically for yearbooks. Most copy work for the 1986 Sandspur was submitted on a copy disk instead of the old typewritten copy sheet method. The make-up of the staff changed with each new quar- ter. Each new group brought fresh ideas and new talent to the production of this book. Many of the original staff members remained through the entire year however to give the book a sense of continuity.
