FRO THE EDITOR The aim of the SANDSPUR staff of 1959- 1960 was to produce a yearbook worthy of Valdosta High School and to relate memorable stories of our year at VHS. ln this nineteenth volume have been incorporated many new fea- tures designed to make our SANDSPUR more enjoyable and entertaining. Perhaps the most striking innovation is the color end sheets, featuring a scene which de- picts the Valdosta High School football spirit. Also, for the first time freshmen, sophomores, and faculty members were allowed individual pictures. Much time and effort were required to produce more vivid faculty and class sec- tions. The organizations, too, caught the lime- light this year. Each organization was cap- tured while engaged in its significant activities with the typical VHS students doing their share to make the organization outstanding at uDosta Hi 9, This yearbook could not have been produced without the help of the student body, the fac- ulty, and a wonderful staff. My grateful thanks go to all these people. Another milestone has been reached with the presentation of this pictorial annual. For the juniors, sophomores, and freshmen this book will record a year of fun and hard work. For the seniors the SANDSPUR will be, in addition, a storehouse of fond memories to be opened on a rainy night or laughed over with old friends. We, the staff, sincerely hope that each of you enjoys every page of this, your 1960 SANDSPUR. Editor
