4 % JIMMY NICHOLS and MARSHA HARRIS 7ft%. rtW 1 S DEDICATION With extreme gratitude the Seniors of Valdosta High School dedicate the 1958 edition of the Sand- spur to Mr. William E. Davis. As a teacher Mr. Davis goes not just the second mile, but the third also. He spends long hours after school helping those who are not malting average grades. He coaches or assists in coaching many of Valdosta High School’s fine athletic teams. He not only helps pupils to understand laws of physics and algebraic solutions but by his life he sets them an example that is well worth following. He is likeable, friendly, humorous, understanding and stern when the occasion demands. His life and actions have taught students how to be citizens of whom America can be proud. Therefore, it is with pride that we dedicate this edition of the Sandspur to Mr. Bill Davis, teacher, coach, and friend. 4 Those who build our schools . . . Smith and Mi Lawton are the warm-hearted, patient tpontors of the SANDSPUR. . . . THE SPIRIT OF VHS Business Manager GEORGE BENNETT Working at a fast tempo in order to meet the earliest deadline in the history of the SANDSPUR, the 1958 staff found themselves at times almost overcome by reams of copy, miles of films and photographs, and the new experience of having the annual distributed before the school year ends. However, overcoming many difficulties, includ- ing financial worries, the copy finally took shape and the 1958 SANDSPUR emerged. If the students are pleased and if this edition takes its place as a treasured volume along with the many others which have preceded it, then the staff is altogether repaid for the hours spent in produc- ing this record of the spirit of VHS in 1958.
