1969 VALKYRIAN VAILSBURG HIGH SCHOOL NEWARK, NEW JERSEY The lives of today’s young people can best be described as a series of contrasting characteristics. Despair and hope, ugliness and beauty, ignorance and wisdom are all integral parts of growing up. Youth must grow in the realization that there are times to keep silent and times to speak out, times to be jubilant over victory and times to be proud despite defeat. It is the responsibility of today’s younger generation to realize the contrasts in life and to promote what is positive and reject what is negative. IT IS WITH GREAT ADMIRATION THAT WE DEDICATE THE 1969 VALK YRIAN TO MR. JOSEPH J. McHUGH ... MRS. ANNE C. KILLIAN MR. GABRIEL NEVOLA SENIOR CLASS ADVISORS 6 r £ v! k? Y' U(Kt L MR. And never a spray of yew. In quiet she reposes: Ah! would that I did too. Her mirth the world required: She bathed it in smiles of glee. But her heart was tired, tired. And now they let her be. Her life was turning, turning. In mazes of heat and sound. But for peace her soul was yearning. And now peace laps her round. Her cabin'd, ample Spirit. It flutter’d, and fail'd for breath. To-night it doth inherit The vasty Hall of Death. —Mail hew Arnold 148 IN MEMORIAM MISS FERNICOLA SENIOR DIRECTORY ADORNETTO. The year- book staff handles the bulk of the work, but there are still many others involved in this endeavor. At this time I’d like to express a huge thank you to all those who helped with the yearbook’s production. My first kudos goes to Mr. Kane. Without his willingness to work and his fine judgment our yearbook never would have become a reality. Mrs. Killian, Mr. Nevola, and Mr. Marcopoto also deserve gratitude for the help they gave us. Several juniors and seniors, exclusive of the staff, spent many hours after school and on weekends to help the yearbook staff with its work. No words can adequately thank them. Finally, my gratitude and congratulations go to the yearbook staff itself. These seniors sacrificed much of their free time and energy to help create this book. I can’t thank them enough. In closing, I'd like to say that everyone involved in any phase of the yearbook work has been invaluable. Without the dedication and tireless efforts of all, the 1969 Valkyrian would never have been. Thank you again. Sincerely yours, Marie Grosso Editor-in-Chicf l‘tN fr ©t 8 6, «Af PUBIIJHIW CO.. INC 292 Gf8 e Avtflvt CM f Crow, N. I. A. ■
