VAIKYR1AN 3 The Valkyries were those in Norse mythology who inspired the Vikings during battle, giving the warriors courage to fend off their foes. These maidens were sent to select the bravest heroes and bring them back to Valhalla. To carry our theme of the Vikings, we named our yearbook the Valky- rian after these people who gave encouragement in time of need. I

FOREWORD As apprehensive, unknowing freshmen, we saw bewildering and new adventures lying hazily in a dream world before us. As seniors, we stand looking back at those past expectations, which are now only memories. Although we are individuals with varied plans for our futures, we have been able to work together, as a unit, for our school. To us, the first graduating class of Vailsburg High School, the Valkyrian is a sym- bol of the work we did, the fun we had, and the lessons we learned as we endeav- ored to set a precedent for future classes. This book briefly portrays the hopes we had four years ago and the new dreams we have for the future. With a great spirit of pride, we the graduating class of June, yearbook, the Valkyrian. 3
