Back: Mr. McAdams, Tony Snowden, Bryan Swift, Scott Fawcett, Dave Snowden, Dan Chambers, Ed Yocum, Richard Noe, Brian Hadsall, Mr. O'Flaherty. Despite numerous injuries, the fresh-soph football team had a highly successful season, finishing with a 7-1 record. They defeated all the conference foes, which enabled them to lay claim to the WAC championship. The Hornets were led by a high powered offensive attack which gained 263 yds per game, while scoring 24.3 pts per contest. The offense was under the command of freshman QB Brian Hadsall. Leading the offensive charges were sophomore halfbacks Doug Easley and Marion White, who gained 1381 yds (15 TDS) and 450 yds (5 TDS) respectively. Adding to the rushing game were freshmen Dave Snowden who gained 293 yds while tossing 8 TD passes, and Bryan Swift, who gained 189 yds on the ground. Providing the running room for the backs were offensive linemen Chris Heitz-center, Cliff Miller, Jay Pittman Tony Snowden-guards, Scott Azbell and Bill Churchill- tackles, Jackie Fouts and Von Saufley- ends. The Hornets defense complimented the offense well by holding the opponents to 9.6 pts per contest. Outstanding performances were turned in by def. end Ed Yocum, linebacker Rich Noe, and def. backs Scott Fawcett and Marlin White. Many of the players were called upon to play both offense and defense. Congratulations on a job well done. We picked up many responsibilities along the way, such as prom, our junior class play, and the big responsibility of acting like an upperclassman.
