After all of those tiring and time-consuming hours after school on Mondays and countless other days spent collecting patrons, devising and carrying out various money-making projects, we deserve a break. And being Seniors more is expected of us, so we have to work harder. So here we are, celebrating our efforts, and our achievements. As we stand from left to right we are: Beth Green, bringing you all cheer for a Happy New Year; Judy McCormick and Debbie Kessler, ACME snow-makers; Mrs. Shirley Knowles, supervisor, alias The Lady with a Thousand Faces ; seated are: Brenda Reneau and Karen Marshall, enjoying their Bubbly ; Sharon Shawgo, celebrating with a feast: and Jackie Cheatham, taking a siesta after a hard day's work. 1 - V k-i 2 3 zo evsnyzHJM ZM8KS JS A SEASON urn — FRONT ROW-LEFT TO RIGHT: C. Student Council for the 1976-77 school year consists of 16 members and 2 advisors, Mrs. Cary and Mr. Artman. The members are Seniors- Karen Marshall, Brenda Reneau, Don Harper, and Raymond Porter. The Juniors are Kathy Heitz, Barb McMullen, Craig Stambaugh, and Stan Adcock. The Sophomores are Becky Churchill, Georgia Hor-wedel, Bob Frazier, and Eric Malott. The Freshmen are Lori Horwedel, Bev Marshall, Dean Haney, and Gary Hamm. The officers are Raymond Porter, President; Stan Adcock, Vice Pres.; Georgia Horwedel Sec.; and Lori Horwedel, Treas. This year the student council has been involved in many of the activities that play an important part of V.l.T. First was the homecoming which made a small profit. The Student Council sent 5 members and 1 advisor to the 1977 Illinois Valley District Student Council Convention. The Council also made $15.00 on the Soc Hop. An addition to the student councils profit this year was the output of the new pop machine. moaeum LEFT TO RIGHT: Cathy Belden, Treasurer; Shelly Hampton, Reporter; Sherry Adcock, Secretary; Lori Horwedel, President; Tammy Chambers, Vice-PresidenL Our first day in high school was frightening. We felt like defenseless students branded with the horrible name, Freshman , and inescapably surrounded 3 to 1 by upperclassmen. We knew that the label Freshman could never be banned until our promotion, but we learned to live with it, and in spite of our fate we have begun to fit into the swing of things here. Starting off right, we elected our class officers, then selected Cathy Belden and Rodney Dilts as our Homecoming attendents. Soon it was time to take up a moneymaking project so we sold candy, much to the delight of the rest of the student body, the faculty and the public. By following the traditions of our school and by adding our own new ideas, we hope to make the best of our high school years. We would like our years here to be happy and memorable. 26 D. Belden R. With Driver's Education on the list of courses there was never a dull moment. Early in the year we elected class officers and soon began selling magazines. We set for ourselves a goal to Beat last year's selling record or bust, and were a success. Next we were found busy decorating the halls for our Homecoming football game against the Industry Eagles, we helped cheer our team on to a glorious victory and elected Georgia Horwedel and Jon Branson to represent our Sophomore class. We feel very much like one of the gang here at V.I.T., but we have also realized that each of us is an individual with his own set of goals. Throughout our remaining years here at V.I.T., we vow to pursue our goals and not faulter. 48 G. Ames K. Azbell K. Baker S. Creech D. Forbes J. Frank E. Batley R. Creasy - k a D. DeMott 49 R. What was that goal? Nothing else but to become seniors obviously. But perhaps we overlooked some of the best things about being a junior. We were led by some very capable leaders with Stan Ernie Adcock and Craig The Stork Stambaugh being President and Vice President in that order. We also had Barb McMullen for a secretary and Cindy Fouts for a treasurer. Good leaders were important for us. It seemed we were people coming from every direction, but for a little while we pulled along the same lines. We made a little money from basketball concessions which went to our biggest project of the year Junior-Senior Prom, Feelings . Wendell Robinson and Cindy Fouts were our attendants to Homecoming. We leave all of this to become the best bunch of seniors yet to be seen at this school. And we leave all this to the sophomores saying Just try to do a better job . 76 S. Adcock D. Bartlett J. We add to our treasury with the profits from our various cake raffles, bake sales, the Homecoming chili supper, football concessions, and the Junior-Senior class play. We celebrated our Homecoming victory over the Industry Eagles by crowning Juanita Kendrick as Queen, and Scott Kendrick as King. They were attended by Annette Bubb and Raymond Porter. Soon we concluded our Senior year with the Junior-Senior Prom, followed by our two-day class trip to Wisconsin Dells. Graduation, preceded by Baccalaureate, came quickly thereafter, and now all that is left in memory of the class of '77 in this 1976-77 annual. In conclusion, we hope that everyone who walks the halls of V.l.T. will make the most of the remaining years here in both learning and fun. This was the long awaited reward for 4 years of bake sales, concession stands, light bulbs sales, candy and magazine sales. We arrived bleary-eyed at our destination, Devil's Head Lodge. Some of us were rather shocked to find that we were to spend the night in a barn complete with silo; of course it was nicely converted for dorm-type accommodations. After breakfast and shopping we took a boat ride on the upper dells which was 2 hours long. We then went to Riverview Amusement Park and Tommy Bartlett's Water Show. Instead of going to the Stock Car Races we unanimously decided to return to our barn and relax in the pool. Sunday, May 29, started out to be a beautiful day. We took in some more swimming and relaxation before going to House On the Rocks — in the rain. On the way home entertainment was provided by Mr. Floyd Webb on his guitar while others sang. We arrived atVIT at 10:30 PM. Our daring chaperones were Mr. Lyle Schoenwetter and Floyd and Connie Webb who allowed us to have an enjoyable trip.
