I.T., we like to remember all the wonderful experiences that have helped us through our twelve years in school. The year of 1946 saw us into the world, but until we entered junior high, we did not have the enjoyment of being classmates together. Several years passed before we met in September of 1958 to begin our six years in the new building. We were to be the first class to go all the way through the new school. Our two years of junior high school passed quickly and in May of 1960 we were promoted to senior high school. Trying to keep as busy as possible in the face of our coming initiation, we elected the following officers: President, Roger Wilson; V. -P., Mollee Marshall; Sec’y-Treas., Jerry Thomson; Reporter, Mike Ingles; Student Council, Marilyn Speer and Richard Krider. Initiation did arrive, however, and timid as we may have been, it can truthfully be said that we enjoyed the day every bit as much as the Seniors. Thanks to Mrs. Doris Wixom, some of the boys were excused from Latin I to get the egg out of their hair. In the evening we came to pledge our loyalty to V. I. T. Class officers for our Sophomore year - 1961-’62- were: Pres., Clyde Clemens; V. -P., Marilyn Speer; Sec., Jackie Craft; Treas., Tom Thomson; Reporter, Carolyn Switzer; Student Council, John Barker and Joan Westergart. Our Junior year we chose the following classmates to lead us: Pres., Richard Bottenberg; V.-P., Bill Saville; Sec., Connie Clemens; Treas., David Rimington; Reporter, Mike Ingles; Student Council, Marilyn Speer and Joe Hughes. We won the prize for the best decorated scene at the Homecoming Dance with an entrance into the gym featuring Harvest Moon. One of the most enjoyable events during our Junior year was the production of Oscar Wilde’s famous play, The Importance of Being Earnest under the capable direction of Mr. James Lowers. A fitting ending for our wonderful year was the Junior-Senior Prom on May 4, 1963. We were fortunate in having Mrs. Glenda Bolin, Mrs. Donna Snowden, and Mr. Ralph Hunter for our sponsors. They helped us immeasurably when we created a beautiful rose garden in our gym featuring the theme Everything's Coming Up Roses. This final year at V. I. T. began on September 30, 1963, with 44 students of which 42 marched down the aisle to Pomp and Circumstance to receive their diplomas on May 29, 1964. We again put ourselves into experienced hands when we elected Richard Bottemberg as our President. Other officers were: V-P, Jerry Thomson; Sec., Geneva Haney; Treas., Pat Baker; Reporter, Bill Hezlep; Student Council, Mollee Marshall and Tom Thomson. We began a thrilling year by winning our Homecoming game with Avon, 33-0. Marilyn Speer and Richard Bottenberg were the Queen and King of our Homecoming Dance on Sept. 28, 1963, Sweetheart Queen Geneva Haney kept us warm on a snowy February evening in her red and white Heart Palace. Soon to follow was the production of our Senior Class Play, Curtain Going Up. Mrs. Winifred Baily led our class to local fame in the theatrical world. One of our Track Queens, Marilyn Speer, added her royal spark to lead our team to a successful season. On May 2, 1964, we were guests of the Juniors at a banquet and later at the Prom where we were whisked over the Pacific to find ourselves in Blue Hawaii complete with Palm trees and native dancers. Queen Jackie Craft and King Richard Bottenberg composed the royalty for this celebrated affair. On May 16, after our sponsors, Mrs. Helen Huges, Mrs. Winifred Baily, and Mr. Larry Inman, had made the necessary arrangements, thirty-two Seniors boarded the bus about 6:00 a.m. fcr St. Louis. Our first stop was Forest Park Zoo, followed by an afternoon at Busch Stadium where we saw the Cardinals defeat the Braves, 6-5. After a wonderful dinner at the St. Louis Airport, we ended our day with It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World at the Cinerama. May 25, 1964, found us in our Baccalaureate Ceremonies. Then on May 29 we said farewell to V. I.T. We hope that coming classes will have all the rewards and pleasures of V. I.T. that we have experienced. 18 19 20 — ••V • 'jitf 2i‘ ■ ®§i®P%§gii UNDERCLASSMEN §MmWi pW Smi mmgm ■fs@sm M t. Junior Class R. Cripe F. Current B. Dean R. Dean 22 1 S. France N. Gamm G.
