Not too much! 18 19 CLASS HISTORY In September, I960, we entered the high school in the usual manner of all Freshmen--scared to death of those great big Seniors. We elected our class officers: Ann Marshall-President; Stan Lee-Vice President; Mimi Marshall-Secretary; Curt Schisler-Treasurer; Theresa Howell-Reporter; and Karen Walters and Larry Jones-Student Council representatives. The girls representing our class as cheerleaders were Karen Walters, Joylene Harris, and Mimi Marshall . Kathy Long represented our class as majorette. Our Homecoming attendants for this year were Mimi Marshall and Dean Malott. Our class sponsors were Mr. Cary, Mrs. Mercer, and Mr. Connour. At the beginning of our Sophomore year in 1961, we had a class enrollment of forty-two. Our class officers this year were: Bill Ulmer-President; Nancy Bottenberg-Vice President; Ann Marshall-Secretary; Mimi Marshall-Treasurer; Mary Jo Porter-Reporter; and Kendall Haines and Theresa Howell-Student Council representatives. Mimi Marshall and Karen Walters again led the boys as cheerleaders, and Kathy Long became drum major. Our sponsors this year were Mr. Cary, Mr. Connour, and Mrs. Vanko. Our Junior year began much as our Sophomore year with the exception that we had dwindled to thirty-eight members. Our class officers were: Gary Counselman-President; Theresa Howell-Vice President; Mary Jo Porter-Secretary; Karen Walters-Treasurer; Mimi Marshall-Reporter; and Nancy Bottenberg and Don Noe-Student Council representatives. Our cheerleaders this year were Mimi Marshall, Karen Walters, and Theresa Howell. This was the year we put on our first play, Girl Shy, and also gave our Junior-Senior Prom, using the theme, Evening in Paris. Mrs. Vanko left so Mrs. Cary took her place as our class sponsor. Thirty-four Seniors finished our final year at V. I. T. High with Bill Ulmer-President; Theresa Howell-Vice President; Karen Walters-Secretary; Mimi Marshall-Treasurer; Ann Marshall-Reporter; and Kathy Long and Larry Jones-Student Council representatives. The cheerleaders from our class this year were Mimi Marshall, Karen Walters, and Theresa Howell. The 1962-63 Homecoming Queen and King were Mimi Marshall and Gary Counselman. Mimi Marshall and Theresa Howell were selected as V. I. T. 's Track Queens, and Mimi reigned as Queen at the Roseville Relays. Our 1963 Sweetheart Queen was Nancy Bottenberg. In April the Seniors of 1963 presented The Green Vine, a three-act comedy under the direction of Mr. James Lowers. In May we were honored in an Everything's Coming Up Roses theme for a wonderful evening at the 1963 Junior-Senior Prom. Mimi Marshall and Dean Malott were chosen as the royal couple at this event. Early on the morning of May 18, 1963, the Seniors left on an exciting and interesting trip to Starved Rock State Park. We topped the day off with dinner at Westbrooks in Pekin and a movie in Peoria. May 29, 1963, was our final step from high school, for it was the day we received our diplomas and said farewell to V. I. T. High School. Our sponsors for this final year were Mr. Cary, Mrs. Hughes, and Mrs. Ragona. 20 underclassmen JUNIOR Carol Hood Alice Abernathy Pat Baker John Barker Wanda Baumgardner Richard Bottenberg John Brumett Clyde Clemens Connie Clemens Carolyn Cook Sue Conner Jackie Craft Gerald Demott Erma Dennis Marilyn Dohner Gary France John Gilson Dale Graham Geneva Haney Janet Heller Bill Hezlep 22 CLASS Joe Hughes Mike Ingles Linda Keller Judy Kotz Richard Krider Janet Lafary Jane Lafary Mollee Marshall Anna Palmer Vera Ragan David Reedy David Remington Bill Saville Sue Smith Gloria Snowden Marilyn Speer Bonnie Steele Carolyn Switzer Jerry Thompson Tom Thompson Roger Wilson Rose Mary Woods NOT SHOWN Gaylor Malott 23 SOPHOMORE Betty Abernathy Harriett Agans Becky Baily Dennis Bassett Carol Baumgartner Barbara Beans Lena Jo Bohannon Marjorie Bowman Cassey Brinton Nancy Bubb Lanny Burgard Steven Burgard Sibyl Butcher Rita Chenoweth Wanda Colston Joyce Conner Marla Crabtree Roy Cripe Fred Current Carol Derry C. The play had a background of unpreaching religious philosophy, and was concerned with dear Cousin George and his relatives who finally learned that he possessed finer qualities other than the cold cash” they were looking for. 37 HIGH SCHOOL BAND Row 4: S.
