ROW 3; Norma Gale, Ketra Brown, Ed Curths, Doug Bailey, Mannie Thorne, Gary Tyler, Dixie Frye, Margaret Young. The year 1957 saw a new organization in our school. The French Club was formed under the sponsorship of Mrs. Piercey. All French students belong to this club. We did not participate in many activities as our club was not organized in time. However, we did sponsor a Mardi Gras Dance on March 2 which proved to be a huge success.

The 56-57 officers were: President, Stan Wilson; Vice-President, Don Howard; Secretary, Dorvan McCormick; Treasurer, Bill Shaw; Reporter, Gary Tyler; and Sentinel, John Weese. A soil judging contest was held at Morton, Illinois. John Weese, Don Icenogle, Phil Richmond, Charles Dailey, and Leroy Saurbaugh represented our chapter. The sectional F.F.A. Leadership Training was held September 7 thru the 9th at Epworth Springs, northwest of Lewistown, Illinois. On November 17,1956 the Sectional Grain Show and Seed Judging Contest was held in Havana, Illinois. Stan Wilson, Bill Shaw, and Dorvan McCormick represented our chapter. A pest contest was held during Christmas Vacation with Gene Welker and Don Howard as captains. Don's team won. ROW 6: Shelba Lafary, Bona Billingsley, Janette Easley, Betty Royer, Sally Snowman, Nellie Bair, Laura Merrill, Shirley Malott, Donna Ashwood, Emily Bulmer, Sharon Haines, Lucille Richardson. The V.I.T. chapter of Future Homemakers of America began this year's activities with a chili supper the evening before the Homecoming, October 10, followed by a cookie sale in November. In December a swimming party and Christmas party were held. The chapter Mother's were Neva Peak, Ruth Burton and Janette Geyer. In January the freshmen and new members were initiated on Family Night. Plans got under way for the Valentines Dance which was held February 16. The Valentine's Dance was a big success. The Sweetheart Queen for the dance was Martha Barker, whose six reigning attendants were Sharon Keefauver, Shirley Malott, Luann Burgard, Eloise Williams, Janice Wilson, and Lynne Dunn. A slumber party was held in the Gymnasium of the High School in March; all had a good time. F.H.A. week was held the first week in April, with a tea and style show for the mothers. For every P.T.A. meeting the girls sponsored a play school for the little children during the meeting. The chapter closed a successful year's activities with a picnic in May.
