Class History The Senior Class of 57 entered V.I.T. in the fall of 53 with high hopes and much anticipation. Our class consisted of 49 members. The officers elected were: President - Marion Cornelius, Vice-President - Louise Adcock, Secretary - Bob Adcock, Treasurer - Larry Shaw, and Student Council Representatives - Judy Craft and Russell Burks. Our money making projects were selling Christmas Cards and a Sock Hop. The float we entered in the Homecoming Parade did not place, but we enjoyed working on it anyway. Our attendants were Judy Craft and Bob Adcock. Sharon Kee-fauver and Judy Craft were elected cheerleaders. We returned to school in 54 and elected new officers. They were as follows: President - Bob Adcock, Vice-President - Judy Craft, Secretary - Sharon Keefauver, Treasurer - Harold Palm, and Student Council Representatives - Beverly Burton and Stan Wilson. The Homecoming float, Family Album, won second place. King and Queen attendants were Harold Palm and Louise Adcock. We sponsored a Sock Hop and Waffle Supper to add money to our treasury. The Junior year for the class of 57 was very busy for everyone. Our class officers were: President - Judy Craft, Vice-President - Stan Wilson, Secretary -Beverly Burton, Treasurer - Harold Palm, and Student Council Representative - Sharon Keefauver and Richard Atwater. The Homecoming float, Yellow Rose of Texas, won second place. Shirley Mallott and Harold Palm were our attendants. Our class play, No More Homework, under the direction of Mrs. Bailey, was presented November 18. On May 4, we presented the Prom for the Seniors of 56. Our theme was Show-boat. The Banquet was held at Hilda's Pantry in Lewistown. Music was supplied by Spud Griffith and his Royal Aires. We sponsored many money-making activities. Among them were: the play, picking up corn, concessions at the Ipava Homecoming and at home basketball games, and a waffle supper. In school activities, we were well represented. We had our share of letter winners in athletics, six chorus members, five band members, three speech contestants, three music contestants, and two cheerleaders. The fall of 1956 found our classmates enrolling in V.I.T. in hopes of receiving a diploma in May 1957. This last year proved the most exciting and sentimental one of our long academic career. Initiation was held on September 13. An informal initiation was held during the day and a candlelight ceremony that evening. Once again our Homecoming float took second place. The King and Queen were Judy Craft and Mannie Thorne. We presented our Senior Play, Henpecked Husband , on November 16. The cast consisted of eleven members. Mrs. Piercey, qur director, and the cast journeyed to Quincy and appeared on the Hal Barton Show. This was an event that will be long remembered. Our money making projects were a magazine subscription drive, the class play, and concessions at the home football games. The class sponsored the Christmas Dance on December 19. Due to severe weather conditions, the crowd was rather small, but for those who attended, the dance was a success. An enjoyable evening was planned for us by the Juniors. The Prom was, as always, a gala affair. Music contestants were Marion Cornelius, Donna Harris, and Beverly Burton. Judy Craft took part in the speech contest. We have six members who have gone to school together for twelve years. They are Judy Craft, Marling Beck, and Beverly Burton from Vermont, and Richard Herriford, Richard Atwater, and Larry Easley from Ipava. Baccalaureate services were held Sunday evening. May 26, and Graduation exercises were on May 28.
