J Lows STOKES Dear Faculty, Staff and Students: We congratulate the sponsors and the members of the yearbook staff for another very excellent graphic and literary portrayal of the various activities of Utica junior College and Hinds County Agricultural High School. If we accept as a truism that societal experiences mold and shape human personalities, then we can assert that the process of providing the activities for this yearbook, i.e., students, intellectual life activities and students' social life activities is a manifestation of a meaningful experience that should have a positive effect on the human self and the society. Thereby providing a very worthwhile value to the individual and the community. When we view ourselves in the wider definition of community, we have to reflect on the extent to which our lives are shared with others in the society, and realize that through concerted individual actions functioning as a community do we gain strength and influence to insure that the 'ffreedomsw of America remain intact. Because it is these freedoms that allow us to destroy prejudice, promote brotherhood, insure peace and bring a ray of hopef' to the lives of many people. We believe this ideal can be achieved through constructive criticisms, creative ideals and concerted efforts between students and faculty, based on a positive reflection of oneself. The experiences that you have gained at this educational institution should enable you to assist in providing our societal structure with the ingredients necessary for a better world. Yours truly, J.
