But if we work upon men's immortal minds, if we imbue them with high principles, we engrave on those tablets something which no time can efface, and which will brighten and brighten to all eternityf' Dan- iel Webster The structuring of immortal minds has been the task of Mr. Johnny Halsell since 1952 when he became, not just another teacher, but an untiring, unfaltering mathe- matics personality whom all students will eventually quote during their stay at Utica. From the small town of Toomsuba, Mississippi to Alcorn College to the University of Indiana, Mr. Halsell has become an integral part of Utica Junior College and its stu- dent body. The Hyoungstersw, as he so fondly prefers- to call them, find strength and awe from the classroom procedures. A smile, a word, a joke--these Mr. Halsell al- ways has. For his service, his dedication to the molding of minds, his willingness to work and many more admirable traits, the 1972 Uticanite is dedicated to Mr. Johnny Halsell, Using Cicero as our guide we can say unot only is there an art in knowing a thing, but also a certain art in teaching itfi
