Enhanced by Dedicated Leaalershgo . . . In 1957 following the successful administration of President Boyd, Mr. Walter Washington was elected president of the school. President Washington came to Uitca junior College in 1951 as principal under President Boyd. He served as the jqrst dean of the college. Since Mr. Washington became president, the college has continued its growth in buildings, curriculum, and staff. The fnancial support of the college has been greatly increased. Its transportation system has now expanded to three counties. Two additional counties, Copiah and Warren, have become a part of the college, making Utica junior College the frst district junior college of its kind in the State. President Washington brings to his position extensive training and experience that have made his administration a success. He has served in many educational leadership positions beyond the college, among which was president of the Mississippi Teachers Association. President and Mrs. Washington have worked as a team during his tenure here. A young leader, President Washington has a love for knowledge. Many persons employed at Utica junior College have been inspired to search for greater knowledge because of his influence on them. The faculty and staff boast of the harmony with which it works because of President Washington's skillful management. e 45
