Each year the president oi Utica Iunior College proclaims the first day of May as May Day. The day beqins with an assernhly in the qyninasiuni. Each class cornpetes for points in three categories, narnely, talent, wit bowl, and A athletics. The best students are chosen irorn each class to ' participate in the three cateqories. The class which qets the highest points is con- sidered the winner. Then its representative is crowned Miss May Day. 1 S 4 X lx as if Many hiqh school qirls and boys from various schools are invited to the hiqh school day proqrarn. These students are entertained hy a play and a variety show. Many walk over the spacious campus and qreet other students. They rake up the leaves, pick up paper, plant ' XXX -- shrubbery, and sometimes Water the lawn. The custodian sees that the corridors, the class- rooms, the lounges, and the lavatories are clean. , High school girls who are enrolled in home eco- nomics learn io'cook, prepare well-balanced meals, and table setting. The girls are supervised carefully by their instructors. IO
