Having entered the gateway of new explorations and opportunities, each student begins a new and differ- ent life. The students are oriented to this new campus life. The day begins with registration in the gymnasium. Soon the ordeal of registration is over and the students and faculty members are glad to see the approaching week. Before classes commence, the old and new stu- dents begin to intermingle and stroll over the campus holding hands. lily 555 n BETHLEHLQ HU + L j L 5 6 O 0 I 0 0 U 0 s -5 Sometime hath the brightest day a cloud: And after summer everrnore succeeds Barren winter, with his wrathiul nipping cloud: So cares and ioys abound, as seasons fleet. Qkolona COACH MYERS 1 1 2,1 -Q. l , f The 1962 Football Season lt all started September 1, 1962, when Coach Latti- more arrived on campus to start football workouts. The coaching staff was called in for a meeting. At that time the blueprints for the 1962 Bulldog team was construct- ed. By September 5, 1962, the campus was buzzing with the enthusiasm of forty-five football players from all over the state and nearby states. On September 28, 1962, Piney Woods School came to Utica to give the Bulldogs their first test. The Bull- dogs proved more than equal to the test by overpower- ing Piney Woods 67-7. Daniel Payne from Birmingham, Alabama, was the next victim of the Bulldogs' power as they fell 47-13. All eyes then turned to Coahoma Iunior College, the defending Conference champions. The Coahoma Tigers refused to be beaten, and slipped past the UIC men 13-6. Determined to get back on the win- ning trail, the Bulldogs outscored Mary Holmes 21-185 Harris 19-1 1, and Prentiss 19-O. While getting ready for the big Homecoming game with Okolona, the Bulldogs kept an eye on the Coahoma-Mary Holmes game, because a Mary Holmes and Utica victory would throw the race into a three-way-tie with Coahoma, Mary Holmes and Utica all boasting 4-1 conference records. Mary Holmes stopped Coahoma 12-9 as Utica out played Ckolona 22- O. Thus, giving the Utica's men a share of the champion- ship. .- -,V ,gf is 'gn A rx 3 N I9 ,r K it Im' f 'FQ it WYE, I .622 .. , K Ei' ' -g f ,., r f 5 S R X .f X 11 1 w f gif rms? The Bulldogs emerged with a razor sharp edge, and were ready to take on the S.l.G. Conference. Persistence, perseverance, and performance!
