No one knows better than I how strongly I hoped that I would not be called away from you. I have learned to live with you, to work with you, and to love you. Nothing that I know of will ever change the deep love and respect that I have for The Utica Institute family. I sincerely hope that every one of you will continue to do all in your power to make The Utica Institute the kind of institution that we had hoped and prayed for it to be. As I assume my duties in the position to which I was recently appointed, I carry with me the deep feeling that each of you is with me and that I can always be sustained by that knowledge. Let Utica forever be to all of us not only an institution of buildings and grounds but one of spirit. U

You are indeed rich in a countless number of ways. The theme of this year's book - Without These is very timely. You, the students, are a most important part of our program. To us, you represent the cause of our being and our dedication to service. Asteach person realizes his importance and responsi- bility as a part of our total school program and assumes that responsibility Utica will become even a greater insti- tution. No matter what may happen and what decisions may be made that will affect our lives, you must always bear in mind that you have attended a great institution and your attendance or employment at the school has made you a participant in and a part of a great tradition.
