A whznv ....,v,..v.'f-4. fe., As we visit Utica Community High School today, the most notice- able feature is the building expansion. We couldn't miss seeing that beautiful, impressive dome of the auditorium. Attached to this is a rectangular building which houses the L-shaped swimming pool and a section for spectators . Also noticeable is the longer length of the north wing because of the addition of twelve classrooms. At the west end of the south wing, our cameras focus on a new section which, we've been told, is the new auto shop. Yes, Utica High certainly looks different since the main building was completed in 1955. But let's take a look inside and see if any- thing else has changed, perhaps the students ? Of course, you prob- ably would know about that because ---- 77 'Tri 37 !b',,' U 'U'-A' ' liek!-Qffl J wig 5 il If A f -if -1 , B il l lf' if lil. i J J' 44.1 3,1 I gl, i.:., z' ,, .s,,.x.l. .... 1 I 5 i 'I TABLE OF CCNTENTS Faculty 5 Seniors 9 Juniors 3 7 Sophomores 4 3 Freshmen 4 9 Activities 5 5 Sports 8 8 Advertisements I 0 5 2 Dedication 'BI 4 6 Q .WE ARE TOMORROW. Jan Blakely David Swanson N his IS oun nie, Class of 195 ' 4 is 'Y You began your career on September 9, 1954, when 204 students entered high school as freshmen. This was a new and different life. The changing of classes , the activities, the sports and the warmth and spirit of a new world ----- high school. During your first year at U.H.S., you held your freshman hayride on December 2 , and your freshman party on the 14th of February, which were both very successful. This year laid a foundation for you for the remainder of your high school years . On September 10, 1955, you entered the new high school representing the sophomore class . This was the second time that you had to get acquainted with new surroundings and people. Your new high school was wonderful and you were anxious to become part of it. During this year you presented the annual sopho- more party. Now you were juniors and considered upper classmen. In November you had your annual J -Hop and helped the seniors give the Christmas Dance. You also sold magazines to raise money for the treasury. Now comes your final year in high school. During this outstanding year you had your Homecoming with Patsy Carr reigning over the festivities as your third annual Homecoming Queen. Immediately following the football game be- tween Utica and Fraser the annual Homecoming Dance was held in the gym with the crowning of the queen and all the celebration. To raise money for the treasury you sold pen sets and Christmas Cards. On February 8, the senior class as a whole had a bake sale with all members of the class contributing. One of the most important events of your Senior year, the Senior Prom, was presented on May 23. On May 25, you left for Washington D.C . on your class trip, and returned on May 28. This was very edl1Cati0I1a1 and was enjoyed by everyone. On June 12, you, as the class of 58, graduated from Utica High School. The years behind have certainly left a definite impression. It has helped to build your character , your personality, and you as an individual. You have had many wonderful and unforgettable experiences and this , class of 58, your life , has laid the foundation for your future. jim' Is Clasp fm of IA O fsffiefi W M EY? iff3jQ ef ,f H Aid wb! This is a growing company in a growing industry. And growth always creates problems. This is also a pioneering company, constantly challenging the accepted ways of doing things. Challenge, opportunity, progress . . . they're like steps. The steps that lead to a satis- factory career. And advancement within the company is the standard practice rather than the exception. We have heard it said that Edison is a good place to work. True! One of the reasons that makies it so--particularly for high school graduates entering the business world for the first time-is that Edison people are friendly, sympathetic and helpful. If you reside in metropolitan Detroit, we invite you to visit our Employment Department, 2000 Second Avenue. Elsewhere job applcation forms are available at any Edison customer office.
