ST PATRICK'S DA! DANCE -. I as an -as THE sro GH The most outstanding social event of the school season was the St. Patr1ck's lDay Dance sponsored by the Senior Class of rssaskale High schou, March 515,19-10. The gymnasium was converted into a dance pavilion, and was artistically decorated in keeping with the holiday, The music was furnished by Charlie 'Bennett's orchestra from Columbus. A large crowd was present and refresh- ments were served. Perhaps this will bee come an annual affair. BAND BOOSTERS CLUB ' The Band Boosters Club, organized in September, have made possible the pur- chase of complete uniforms for the I ataskala Band. Our community has given splendid support to this organization. JUNIOR CLASS PLAY On April lO,the Junior Class presented for its class play, Crashing Society . The cast did a nice bit of acting, and the play was well received.Frank Ruzicka as coach. SENIOR CLASS PLA! I The Senior Class Play will be held riday evening, May 17. A comedy en- titled 'Superstitious Sadie, will be 'iven. The Senior play, given Justbe- fore school closes. always attracts a large crowd. BACCALAUREATE Services are to be held in the Presby- erian Church, Sunday evening, May 19, ev. Beal of the Methodist Church will reach. Members of the 5th A 6th grades 111 furnish the music as usual. COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES The commencement exercises for the aduating class of Pataskala High Scho ill be held May 22, at 8 o'clock. The speaker for the evening will be Dr. Cookson of Troy, Ohio. If the weather permits, the Commence- ent program will take place on the ighted Athletic Field. . Music for the occasion will be furn- ished by various music groups within the school. Twenty-six members make up the class. I The Spotlight which provides the news- of Pataskala High School,appears in each issue of the Pataskala Standard. Our F.H.A. fFuture Homemekers Associa- ttionb has been very active this year. There are 45 girls enrolled. The of- ficers who were elected for the year are as follows: President--Marylou Carter V.Pres.--Grace Moore Secretary--Ruth Johnson Treasurer--Opal Wylie Historian--Betty Lennington Sponsor--Miss Nichols Our programs were extremely interest- ing. Some activities wereg Initiation' Service, Fireside Service, Degrees, Hob- bies, Mother and Daughter Party, and a party held for the Senior girls. Clever program booklets were designed and made by Melissa Bailey. OTHER EVENTS OF THE YEAR On February ll, the Music Department, under the direction of lr.01lbert,broad- cast a 80-minute program over WH O. Betty Shaw placed first and Mildred 'Wilson third, in the typing contest in ablcking County. They will compete in the State finals st O.S.U. May 4. l Baseball predictions up-to-date--wet. Pataskala was represented at the Cap- ital University Music Contest by three umlsic groups. The annual Carnival held 1n6ctober'was a big success and was well attended. A cafeteria was organized in January. J The football team won for P.H.S. the county championship for 1939. p On April 18, the Junior Classsponsored round and square dance at the High School-Gymnasium. The Ohio Farm Bureau sponsored a safet rogram at Pataskala,Friday,November 17. Summit,Etna,and Kirkersville students at- tended. p WJ
