Intelli- gence, leadership ability, and persistence are a few of the many qualities of our valedictorian. Carol di- rects the activities of the Ac. Observer. She is a mem- Douglas Kendrick-93.090 ber of Quill and Scroll, an international honor society for high school journalists, and she is a member of National Honor Society. l53y Phyllis Goss-93.685 Sandra Kenyon 94 588 Susan Gersten 93 823 Mary Ellen Waszkiew 93 727 Joyce Sitrm 93 714 Sandra Kenyon, the run- ner-up for top place, main- tains an average of 94.5 for four years of high school. Graciousness, abil- ity, and reticence charac- terize our salutatorian. San- dra is president of National Honor Society. She is an active member of Social Studies Club, Student Council, and A Cappella Choir. Sandra plans to become a research chemist.

GERALD LYSIK, President Popular, dependable and trustworthy are but a few characteristics of our class president, Gerald Lysik. A three-letter man in sports, jerry was elected captain of the 1958 football team. He was the past secretary-treasurer of the Block U Club. Jerry plays in the U.F.A. Band and is a member of the U.F.A. dance band. In his junior year, Jerry was U.F.A. Boys' State delegate. He plans to enter Syracuse University in the fall where he will study engineering. MICHAEL HAMLIN, Vice-President A typical high school boy with a quiet smile describes our class vice-president, Michael Hamlin. Mike has been a member of Social Studies Club, Moni- tor Club, and Thrift Club. His favorite activity is the U.F.A. Band of which he is a member. In the fall Mike plans to enter a liberal arts college. THERESA ZEGARELLI Secretary Theresa Zegarelll secretary of our class is a typical high school girl with an irresistible personality which has made her well liked by all She has been a member of Student Council Jr Red Clubs Terry has also been active in school sports particularly tennis and bowling She has taken a commercial course and hopes to enter the business world after graduation BARBARA GENTILE Treasurer As a spirited and energetic cheer leader Barbara Gentile class treasurer has cheered U FA teams to victory for two years Her enthusiastic spirit and capable work have made her the best b1l1t1es Barb was elected the business manager of the 1959 Academician She has been an 21Ct1V6 member in Spanish Club and in thc U FA Band Desiring to prepare for a business career Barb plans to enter Utica College in the fall to study secretarial science !
