FGREWORD Titan . . . gigantic in size, mighty in force, unsurpassed in power . . . What better symbol could represent the Utica Free Academy, long outstanding in tradition, reputa- tion and size! What better theme could characterize the 1958 Academician as it records, in word and picture, the story of another year of progress and achievement! For Academy students, the symbol of the Titan has been most closely associated with Prometheus. He was the Titan who, according, to legend, brought fire from heaven, the gift by which man forged his destiny of dominance over all other creatures. That Promethean spark can be likened to the strength and enrichment our lives have gained here at UFA. Days spent in the Academy classrooms, library and gym have brought us knowledge, inspiration, friendships and, we may hope, the beginning of wisdom.
