While maintaining an average of 95.75, Judy has found time to serve as vice-president of the National Honor Society and co-editor of the Academic Observer. Student Coun- cil, Punchinello, the Amdenzicimz staff, and the Spanish and Social Studies Clubs all have benefited from her membership. In her junior year, Judy won the United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth sponsored by the Odd Fellows and was the recipient of the junior class scholarship award at commencement last year, Judy plans to enter Utica College as a liberal arts major. Johanna Scholl, our capable saluta- torian, has distinguished herself not only by maintaining an average of 94.857, to place her second in the graduating class, but also by completing her high school course in three years. Active in the Nation- al Honor Society, the UFA Orchestra, the Academic Obrerref, and Future Teach- ers of America, Johanna has served as an armciale editor of the Amdemicimz and ar corresponding secretary of Der Deutsche Verein. Michael Slive, Prerident Popular, versatile, and dependable . . . These are but a few of the characteristics of our class president, Michael Slive. Proof of his athletic prowess is found in Mikes selection as vice-president of the Block U Club and co-captain of the 1957 football team. Mike was also the recipient of the Academic Observer Award as one of the top two men on the squad. He was sports editor of the 1958 Acadenzicimz. Main- taining an average in the top quarter of his class, he won the Harvard Book Award for best all around progress in his junior year and in his senior year was honored as Optimist Boy of the Month. Mike plans to begin a pre-medical course next fall. il Gerald Waterson, Vice-President Gerry Waterson, our popular vice-president, will long be remembered for his cryptic and witty quips. A member of Quill and Scroll, last fall Gerry won the Feature Writing Award at the Empire State School Press Association conference sponsored by Syracuse University. His sterling performance in Punchnellds presentation of The Acimimble Cricbrorz delighted audiences. Gerry also served as vice-president of the Math Club, treasurer of the Science Club, and Student Council parliamentarian. Our ve-ep has also main- tained an honor average, thus earning membership in the National Honor Society. Desiring to further his education, Gerry plans to study engineering in college. Y ' mmf' 1 S- ,M , li A 2 fi, 1 ff i Jo Ann Mazzatti, Secretary Our cheerful and personable secretary, Jo Ann Mazzatti, is well known for her capable work in all undertakings. Being chosen for honorable mention by the Optimist Club during Youth Appreciation Week was a just reward for Jo Ann's outstanding record at UFA. The National Honor Society, French Club, of which she was vice-president, the Aradcmir Obrerzier and Acadezzzirimz stalls all claimed her mem- bership. Last summer, Jo Ann was sent to Syracuse University by the Student Council to attend a leader- ship training workshop. Active also outside of school, jo Ann has served as chairman of the area Teens Against Polio. jo Ann plans to continue her educa- tion at Utica College. black Wileczka, Trrefzrzzrer jack Wileczka, president of the newly organized Math Club, was a wise choice for class treasurer. A member of Punchinello Players, Jack took part in last falls presentation of The Arimimble Crichton. Well liked for his ready smile and pleasing personality, jack belonged to the Science Club, Student Council and A Cappella choir, and was an associate editor of the Acfzflemic Observer. A member of the National Honor Society, jack plans to begin a course in chemical en- gineering at college in the fall.
