The sharp click ot President Wally iviatt's gavel and the wheels ot our student government began to turn with alacrity and smoothness. The teatured proiect ot Student Council dur- ing the past year was the promotion ot UFA's sport nickname, TITANS. The booster committee headed by Ellen Klein undertook an intensive cam- paign to publicize the nickname through booster buttons, banners, and cheers at sports events. Other matters brought betore the sixty-tive members ot the Council during their weekly meet- ings in 243 included budgeting, chartering clubs, elections, dances and pep rallies. Beginning with the Jean Dance, SC sponsored six dances during the year, Pep rallies, complete with bontires, sparked student spirit during the tootball season. Council also conducted trequent assemblies tor student enioyment. Committee chairmen who ably supported the otticers were: Judie Surridge, iviary Friel, Carole Pratt, Dick Sacco, Dave Cooley, and Al Carda- mone. ivir. The third game ot the season tound the Titans bowing to Whitesboro. UFA then won six games in a row, downing Watertown, Oswego, Auburn, Rome, U.C.A. and Proctor be- tore being upset by New l-larttord. The Titans returned to their winning ways, beating Troy and St. Francis betore once again bowing to Whites- boro. Rome and U.C.A. were UFA's next victims betore the Titans tell into a city league tie by being cleteated at Proctor. Although the advanced group lost a rigorous meet to New Hart- tord, the team's persistence and energy created a sense ot achievement. At the close ot the season the girls invited the UPA boys' team to a co-ed swim which will never be torgotten tor its hilarity. ln the spring the girls' groups combined to torm a swim club.
