' John Denver Hortmonn Some weeks later USU President Stan-ford Co2ier onnounced thot the university was initiating a curriculum review to make sure the materials used in the class were of a educational nature. Hence, it was determined that the filmstrip was a valid part of the class. R new part of the USU campus was the construction of the Kellogg Life Span Learning Center, which reflected on era of expansion of facilities, and added a modern look to the university. The Kellogg Center provides the univer-• sity with a fully-equipped conference facility including 75 hotel rooms and several large meeting rooms. The Placement Center and a gift shop will olso be located in the complex. Rrt and landscape architecture students received a new home in the early part of 1980. The Visual Rrts UJmg of the Chose Fine Rrts Center was built ot a cost of $4,130,012 and provides some of the most up-to-date facilities for humanities students in the United Stotes. The Fine Rrts Center is considered to be concrete evidence of Utah State's commitment to the arts. Rnother commitment by Logan’s city fathers was to ban dancing after midnight on Saturday. Irate students voiced their opposition to the dance ban in letters to the editor sections of all the local papers. Councilman Loye Martmdale. who proposed the amendment, said the entire issue was a misunderstanding, ond that he had believed beer couldn't be sold after midnight on Saturdays. The city council voted to recind the dance bon before it ever took effect. 1980-81 was most certainly the year of contrasts, unity and cultural mixing.
