The Candlelight Ceremony, which took place the night before graduation, was an impressive rite in which to participate. Wearing black robes, mortar boards, and carrying candles, my colleagues and I, class of '47, toured the campus. At the President's home, we paused to rest and my thoughts turned to Franklin S. Harris, friendly and intelligent in his high administrative office. I thought of autumn registration the past two years, at which time he insisted upon shaking the hand of every student. That's a lot of handshaking! Always ready to help the students in their endeavors to improve school policy, President Harris has been a true friend and leader

Set off the main thoroughfare of the campus, the Forestry Building remains a mystery to many students. I feel a trifle smarter than the usual run, however, because I went down there when I was a junior to get a book from the library. I enjoyed my visit and would recommend same to others. The Foresters have made a good impression on me via their week of celebration with Paul Bunyan, log splitting and tobacco spitting contests, and novel dances at the Dansante. The Nursery School never appealed to me ... I get into enough trouble hitting my own young sister over the head without doing same to other peoples' kids. Joking aside, the school provides practical training for girls majoring in Child Development. It is very commendable also in that it helps children learn how to get along with each other. Outsiders can't get in the place without a passport, blood count, student body card, ticket to the last school play, and a drivers' license, so I had to take my last look from the exterior. 19
