p b e A i 4 e n t I Ik- picture of organized hate arul greed which the world presents today, expressing itself pu in (lie very center of our civilization, is a most forbidding spectacle, and human existence on a level very much above that of the animal would appear difficult if not hopeless if it we ere not for the inspiring fact that tin remedy lor this fearful social degeneration is at band, 'file truth which forms the basis of this remedy lias been the possession ol mankind for over nineteen hundred years and is today the most powerful force in the world—more powerful than the hordes now regimented in armies, more powerful than all the battleships, submarines and all the bombing planes ready to scourge the cities and their people with gas, lire and explosives. As before, a Mon s Word was more powerful than the legions of Caesar. And the picture is less a picture of hopeless tragedy because it lets us know that evil and peace cannot live together. For us to expect peace in the presence of hate and greed, whether national, corporate, or personal, is to expect the impossible because this is a moral universe in which we live and to violate moral law without expecting its consequences in disorder, disease, violence and death is to deny the validity of moral law. It is to expect that we will not fall to the earth if we step out ol a window. YVe are being taught today in the pitiable spectacle of a civilization destroying itself that moral law does rule the world and that we must obey that law if we are to reap the fruits ol obedience, which are health, progress, peace and plenty. I he world has a long way to go. we all have long way to go. before we “truly believe” in the efficacy of this doctrine. Can the on-coming generation of youth see the truth clearly and embody it in the personal and social life of their generation? If they can the'world will be redeemecBfejkd- will enter into the new glory which it was foretold would som jdav come to the earth. I he dins ahead are to be days of rich experience for those who think straight and see clearly: the simple magic ol their hilfillmnnl is the good lile extended o tH r P n e Hsing of the social structure of the world. —President Elmer G. Peterson
