As a boy he broke horses lor a living and still enjoys roaming the wide open spaces astride a trusty steed. Is interested in geology and knows underground water from a to z. Dean ol the School ol Engineering makes his work his lone hobby although he occasionally weakens and plays goll or rides horses. Doesnt like gum-chewing girls or cabbage. I'avorite lorm ol transportation is air travel. When he goes on a vacation he spends his time viewing engineering projects rather than basking on the sea shore. Rotary C lub. and hoy Scouts occupy his spare lime. Enjoys a game ol goll occasionally and likes a good hand of bridge. Mis side line is journalism. An articulate and fascinating speaker in the classroom, a nature lover at home. and an extremely interesting person at all times might be the thumbnail description of E. A. Jacobsen. Dean ol the School ol Education. Rather than having any certain hobby. Dr. Jacobsen has a wide diversity ol interests. Likes to associate with all classes of people and prefers the informal to the formal in any circumstance. In speaking of Dr. lames I I. Linford. Director of the Summer Session, any phrases synonomous of courtesy and thoughtfulness could be applied. As a carry-over from his boyhood days on a farm he has a flower garden for a hobby. Prides himsell on his attendance record to all college functions. Admits favorite form ol recreation is travel, because he is loo impatient to fish anymore.
