SCHOOL OF COMMERCE Spender of his golf time gardening Dean Doctor William Lawrence Wanlass guides the destinies of those students who have cast their lot in Commerce. Established in 1891 as the second oldest School of Commerce in the nation it has grown until now it offers complete courses in Accounting, Political Science. Economics. Business Administration and Sociology. Dr. Wanlass studied ot Johns Hopkins and George Washington Univer sities and taught at Union College, Schenectady. New York before coming to Utah State in 1921. SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE Completing his first year as Dean of the School of Agriculture, Dr. Rudger H. Walker insists that as yet he knows little about his department—his efforts belie the statement. A quiet, scholarly gentleman he conducts with efficiency and capability the School of Agriculture, recently combined with the Experiment Station. Schooled at Brigham Young University and Iowa State, with emphasis on Chemistry and Bacteriology, he is eminently qualified to further advance the agricultural functions of the Collogo.

OF THE FACULTY SCHOOL OF HOME ECONOMICS Schooled of the University of Minnesota in Child Development and at the University of California in Foods. Physiology and Chemistry, Doan Christine B. Clayton makes Commons 102 her headquarters. Preparing women for thoir place in the domostic world is the chiof purpose of the School of Home Economics. To accomplish this aim the School maintains authorities in the fields of Foods and Nutrition, Textiles and Clothing Child Development and Parental Education. The mos modern facilities are employed in training prospective teachers, nutritionalists. nursery school workers, cafeteria managers and home makers. SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SCIENCES Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences is Dr. N. A. Pedersen, campus culturist. Known at Utah State for more than thirty years as Instructor. Professor, and Dean, he has endeavorod to administer a liberal education to every student. Dr. N. A. enacts Chaucer and Shakespeare to delighted classes, scorns sentimentality in creative writers, and enjoys a good joke- but finds vulgarity revolting. The School of Arts and Sciences comprises English and Speech. Modern Language, Geology. Mathematics, Zoology and Entomology, Physics. Chemistry. History and Bacteriology. These dopartmonts form the bulwark of every educational institution. 27

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION SCHOOL OF FORESTRY Paul M. Dunn, another yearling of the Dean's Council, conducts the School of Forestry in a thorough and concise manner. An outdoor man at heart, ho always has an eye for the good of the Foresters. Ho is just one of the boys to his student associates, all of whom generally call him by his first name. The curricula of the School recognized as on© of the nation’s best, is designed to train men for government or state wort in forest, range, and wild life management. Directing the activities of the far corner of the Campus. Dean Dunn strives to develop character and responsibility in his noture loving students. Rapid growth of the School of Education bias been responsible in large part to its gonial, progressive Dean. 9. A. Jacobsen. Since his return from the University of Oregon in 1 37 ho has been working on a survey of the youth problems in Utah. Under bis direction the School of Education is attempting to foster the idea that colleges should teach students to do well thot which they will ultimately do anyway. In so doing the department is trying to delete that which is useless from school curricula and integrate all departmental teachings • n order to assist the development of well rounded individuals.
