Maria Esther Fortes came to Ursuline from Brazil and stayed with the Kanning family. By the end of the year, Esther was speaking fluent English and graduated with the class of 1977 with higher than average grades. At Class Night she addressed the Ursuline community saying that she loved Ursuline and would never forget her year here. 177

Newspaper Editor- Yearbook Editor- Lit. Mag. Editor- Nancy Runzler Patricia Hardy Bernadette Hamilton Publication of the Ursuline REVEILLE was placed in the hands of the newly-formed Journalism class, along with the yearbook and the litera magazine. This was a much needed arrangement in order to insure or anization and division of responsibility. Three people were chosen to car on the duties of issuing the three publications. Nancy Runzler was editor of the newspaper, Bernadette Hamlillton took charge of the literary magazine, and Patricia Hardy headed the yearbook division. Throughout the year, thejournalism students, under the supervision of Mrs. Marge Hardy, athered material from various events that happened around school. In March, through the presence ofrgUSAN ITRIGHT, poet-in- residence, students created poems that were eventually published in the literary magazine. Susan came through a grant from the Texas Fine Arts Commission. The newspaper ran on a monthly basis with new features in each issue. The yearbook, of course, with hard work and dedication, is what is seen on these ages.
