UNE In P flualine Htlcletic luociation A'XVhy must we take back-breaking exercises and play those silly games. Yes. why? Be- cause physical education is very, very necessary for every girl and boy in democratic America. so necessary that it cannot be considered second to any scholastic subject. The games in which we participate develop in us a sense of sportsmanship-to be modest winners and good losers: we learn to think more clearly and to act more quickly. The exercises provide us with an opportunity to acquire a certain grace of movement, and do much to train strong bodies in healthy minds. The U.A.A. affords many hours of active competition and enjoyable play. During the year there are several meets at which classes strive for the pennants and individuals contest for championship in various skills. Toward the close of the school year, tension rises for all are anxious to have a part in the final Field Day . Much of the success this year is due to the very capable class captains: Mary Lou Dulle and Teresa Bernabie, seniors, Dorothy Donovan and Loretta Stier. juniors, Natalie lbold and Betty Jacobs, sophomores, and Dorothy Pharo and Ann Winter. freshmen.
