The Temple is a gift of Muriel and Phillip I. Herman for the Fcltcrolf Dedication. This years I lomccoming held a double honor for Lynda I lobbs-I ernie. she was Sigma Rho Lambda's Homecoming queen nomination and was recognized as a member of the NCAA National Champion Lacrosse team. Lynda was a varsity member for three years playing defensive wing. After graduation Lynda will enter PNB's Wholesale Training Program, utilizing her Applied Math Economics major. Lynda's hometown is Collingswood, NJ. As for other activities, she has been a Student Assistant in the Office of Career Planning and Placement for four years. President of the Whitians. and Treasurer of Tau Sigma Gamma. Lynda was also named to Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities. When we asked Lynda why UC over other colleges, she replied the warm and personable people, the one-on-one rapport w ith the faculty and that UC was a small college. Her comments on the Residential Village included. It is a fantastic idea, and an area of the college that should always be kept up in order to keep the 'look'. 10 Senior Profiles NEWS Art professor Theodore A. Xaras was commissioned by the Richter family to paint President Richter’s portrait in celebration of his 10th year anniversary. The portrait was unveiled at the November faculty meeting and then displayed in Corson I lull lobby for the campus to admire. When asked what male would best represent the graduating class of 1987. the answer was Mr. Ursinus. of course. Arvind Srinivasan was the winner of the first annual Mr. Lr-sinus competition, he is a Biology major and will be attending medical school upon graduation. With such a goal, it was not surprising that when asked Why did you choose I rsinus' he replied because of liC’s great pre-med reputation and the personal attention in and out of the classroom , but other reasons include the friendly people and atmosphere of the campus. You could easily become involved in different things. That is exactly what Arvind did. became involved. During his four years at Ursinus he has participated in the following: Resident Assistant for two years. President of Pi Omega Delta, Vice President of Beta Beta Beta. Secretary of Brownback-Anders Premcd Society and a member of the Cub and Key Honor Society. Arvind has also received such honors as National Dean’s List. Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities and Outstanding Young Men of America. But during Arvind’s free time, he enjoys the hobbies of weightlifting, jogging. and reading. Our final question to Arvind was his opinion on the residential village. He replied. I feel it is a great improvement to UC and it definitely adds to the aesthetic quality of the campus. II li was the first time in the College’s history that two Homecoming queens were elected. On October 11. Grace Boston and Jancll C'epcda were crowned queens. The 1986 Homecoming Court included: Representing Zeta Chi Jen Tomlinson and Charlie MeGray; Sigma Rho Lambda Lynda Hobbs-Fcrnic and Tony Vfaiore; Pi Omega Delta Kim Kester and Arvind Srinivasan; Beta Sigma Lambda Beth Kapezynski and Tim Timko; Alpha Phi F.psilon Bonnie Nemeth and Joe Pooler: Alpha Phi Omega Janell Cepeda and Charlie White: Delta Pi Sigma Grace Beston and Dan Scholl: Alpha Chi F.psilon Carolyn Dicstlcr and Jeff Lord: Campos Activities Board Patty Fatzinger and Bob Russell: Delta Mu Sigma - Denise Coyle and Don DcC'ou. Other highlights of the day included recognition of the Wom-en Lacrosse Team being the 1986 Division III National Champions, and. as pictured to the right. Jill Johnson received the Linda McIntyre Sports Award. The 1986 Homecoming Queens and their escorts: Charlie While, Jane!! Cepeda. Grace Boston, and Dan Scholl. The 1986 Homecoming Court. 13 14 The dedication of Fcttcrolf House, one of the oldest houses in Collcgevillc.was celebrated by an Inaugural l-xhibit: A Selection of American Art during the week of September 28. 1986. The Inaugural l;.xhibit featured selections of American paintings and sculpture primarily from the collection of Muriel and Phillip I. Berman. The new renovations provide Lrsinus students with an excellent art facility. 16 F lic college has created the Residential Village to ensure that the LTsinus campus retains an open friendly atmosphere in an attractive setting. The Village plan blends historic renovation with new construction. Preserving the special character of the buildings was a high priority in the conceptualization of the Village. Special efforts have been made to capture all the Victorian flavor of these brick and wood buildings and to offer students the best in modern conveniences and safety. 542 Main Street Cfc Co a 17 Hobson Hall Musscr Hall Musser Hall is the first residence hall to be devoted entirely to a single program. The building serves as the headquarters for the new international program. A recent gift from Betty Musscr and her husband Warren have made possible the renovation of and addition to South Hall, which has been renamed in the Musser's honor. On January 21 Ursinus College received one of Montgomery County Planning Commission's 1986 Outstanding Land Development Award’s. The College received the honor in recognition of the Residential Village project which restored eleven old Main Street resident halls to their original Victorian appearance.
