BASEBALL Our baseball team ended the season with a 5-1 conference record. During the season both Urbandale and Ankeny compiled a 5-1 record, and a play-off held at Johnston was won by Ur- bandale 10-7. Four seniors will leave the team this year: Jim McNabb, playing third baseg Bob Horak, at shortstopg and Bill Little and Jim Noyes in the outfield. GIRLS' BASKETBALL The girls' basketball team ended their '55-'56 season with a 12 and 7 record. Among these victories was the Polk County Third Place trophy and Runners-Up trophy in the Sectional Toumament. Prospects for next year should be very bright as the entire squad is returning. The girls doing the most playing are as follows: Juniors: Adelle Wilson, Judy Yeater and Janis Bagley. Sophomores: Marcene Fickle, Janis Willett, Delores Boggs and Barbara Barton. Freshmen: Susan Greene. TRACK Urbandale's teack team has been making good progress since its beginning three years ago. This year the cindermen participated in relays at Valley, Drake and Grinnell, and they entered the conference, district and state track meets. In the district meet, Tom Alexander became the first Urbandale track man to win two medals in that contest, He broke the school record in winning the high jump and also won a medal in the 180 low hurdles. Bill Little qualified for the state finals in shot-put, as did the 880 yard relay team of Rusk, Newbrough, Visser and Boals. Entering state competition for the first year, Urbandale placed fourth in the high jump, with Tom Alexander's 5' 5 2314 and set a school record in the 880 yard relay. This team was made up of McNabb, Newbrough, Visser and Boals. Congratulations, boys, on a big year in Urbandale track!
